Singing for Advocates from Around the Globe

The Zonta International Convention has been held in Brisbane this week, and we were thrilled to perform at their Friday night reception at Rydges Southbank. It was also our first public performance with Blue Sky Harmony members Bev and Nancy! They both did a fabulous job of learning repertoire to prepare for this event.

A photo from one of our sets during the night - we sang in different locations to share the a cappella love!

Not familiar with Zonta International? The organisation is comprised of professional members dedicated to empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. Australia has been a proud member of Zonta International since 1966, with clubs present in all Australian states and territories. You might have noticed Brisbane bridges and Government House being lit up in orange recently, in support of the 'Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women' campaign.

We thoroughly enjoyed performing at Friday's event for so many women doing amazing work in their communities. We performed as a full chorus, in addition to showcasing smaller groups and quartets. It was a packed room, but we still managed to connect with guests from all over the world. After the event, we took advantage of the central location and had a couple of drinks and a good chat at The Charming Squire.

Quartets were featured, including the one above with new member, Bev, singing bass!

Thank you to our friends on the Sunshine Coast, Hot Ginger Chorus, for connecting us with the organisers of the Zonta event. Our choir is always excited to perform at corporate and community events, so please contact us if you would like to discuss your event.

Our next performance will be at our Winter A Cappella Concert on 24 July from 7.30pm. Come join us!

We received Zonta biscuits as gifts at the end of the event
