Memories from the Past Year

Well, 2024 was a fantastic year for our chorus! We started the year with dinner and karaoke, before our 2024 Open Rehearsal, where we met many other singers in the community.

Shortly after, we had a coaching night with Bec Hewitt, then our weekend retreat with Lea Baker. Two International Faculty members in the space of a few weeks! Next up was the fifth Sequins and Songs quartet event, where many of our members performed in quartets and small ensembles, and we caught up with barbershop friends from all over South-East Queensland.
 

In April, we attended a workshop run by the Australian National Choral Association - QLD & NT, then in May we enjoyed performances at the Sweet Adelines Australia convention (in person or via the webcast).

The winter months were jam-packed with activities, including performing at the Zonta International Convention, having a drumming night at rehearsal, running a Winter A Cappella Workshop, and sharing our music with friends and family at our Winter A Cappella Concert! We also joined forces with six other choruses for a fabulous one-day event to learn together and perform for each other. AND we moved to a wonderful new venue at Everton Park State High School!
 

The year was rounded out with a weekend of coaching with Avril Hughes, and many opportunities to perform in our community during the festive season.

Throughout the year, we also welcomed many visitors to rehearsals, celebrated birthdays and weddings, cheered on our members as they sang with other ensembles at competitions, and had chorus social nights and optional group outings. When you're part of a chorus, you always have friends who want to join you for the latest musical, concert or local festival! 

This year we also gained three new members - Nancy, Bev and Nat. They are all lovely people who bring so much to our ensemble. Not just via their beautiful voices, but with their commitment, enthusiasm and friendship. It feels like they've been here for years!
