A Fun and Educational Coaching Weekend!

We were very lucky to have a weekend of coaching with Regional Education Faculty member Avril Hughes earlier this month. Avril is an accomplished musician and vocalist, and is the lead singer of Australia’s champion quartet, Skylark. Skylark is heading to the USA soon to compete on the international stage for the second time!

At our national convention in May next year, our choir will be singing an original song co-written by one of our members for a musical around 20 years ago! We’ve recently started working on this fun uptune and Avril helped us add a tonne of personality and variety to our interpretation of the song.  She also worked with us to make a beautiful repertoire song even more poignant – we can't wait to perform it again now!
 

After our Saturday coaching, we had dinner and drinks nearby – not out too late though, because we had small-group sessions the following day. These allowed time for more personalised vocal coaching for our members, which is so valuable for our skill-building. Thanks to Sweet Adelines Australia and Sweet Adelines International for supporting our wonderful Regional Education Faculty program! It was a fantastic weekend, and we can’t wait until Avril visits again in 2025!

Now we’re gearing up for carolling performances and preparing for our next open rehearsal on 22 January 2025. If you’d like to try singing with us, this night will provide the perfect opportunity!

Also save the date for our Family and Friends Mini-Concert – 30 April 2025. This will be our final performance before heading to Hobart for our convention.
